Our Staff

Ohana School of Massage was created in 2019 with the idea of being the change the massage industry needs. Many massage therapy programs focus solely on training future massage therapists in techniques and medical terminology. The problem is, a lack of knowledge isn't the reason most massage therapists leave the industry every year. They leave because the reality of what a massage therapist needs to be does not match the knowledge they were given in school.

The biggest two reasons that massage therapists leave the industry are the physical toll massage therapy can take on the therapist's body and/or they can't make the business side of massage work for them.

At Ohana School of Massage we dive deep into how the therapist can take care of themselves as well as how to run a successful practice.

Don't think you want to own your own business? Having a working knowledge of business can make you more valuable as an employee!

Paula VanBaalen,
Lead Instructor

LMT, CAMT, CPMT, Intermediate JBMFR Practictioner

Paula loves being able to give hope and relief to those suffering from chronic pain. She specializes in treating the body as a whole, rather than only focusing on the area of pain.

Paula VanBaalen first got introduced to the world of massage therapy at the age of 12 years old as alternative treatment for an auto accident. Ever since then, she knew she wanted to be a massage therapist.. and a teacher.

Today this dream is a reality. Paula has a passion for education and helping others become the healthiest, happiest version of themselves possible. At Ohana School of Massage, she is able to combine these passions to help create the next generation of massage therapists.
